The meeting was held at the El Camino Hospital, Mountain View Campus on Jan. 30,  2016. Our featured speakers were Tony Bowden and Tim Maguire from the Santa Clara County Fire Department. Their topic was "Planned Use of Amateur Radio Operators to Assist Santa Clara County Fire with Emergency Communications." Two of our SPECS members, Jim Oberhofer and Jim Clark, have been involved in this project as well, since their cities are part of the initial phase of the project. The goal is to equip fire stations in the county with identical communication systems so they can be used in emergencies.  CERT volunteers and ARES/RACES Radio operators will service the stations since firemen will most likely be away in a major event. The stations have emergency generators and will attract people who need help or have information to be passed to the county.
